Hormonal Balance Testing

Hormonal Balance Testing, Replacement Therapy & NAD Injections in Amherst, NY

Hormonal balance testing is important because when hormones are imbalanced, it can result in some unpleasant symptoms. The symptoms include changes in weight, severe mood swings, changes in hair, changes in skin, and changes in metabolism. There are also other symptoms that can come about due to hormonal imbalances because the symptoms differ from person to person. Birth control affects the hormone balances in a person’s body, so sometimes a solution can be to switch or start taking birth control. In other cases, a doctor might suggest not being on birth control to help balance out your hormone levels.

In addition to birth control adjustments, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may be considered in certain situations, particularly during perimenopause, menopause, or in cases of clinically low hormone levels. HRT involves supplementing the body with hormones—such as estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone—to restore balance and relieve symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, mood instability, vaginal dryness, low energy, and decreased bone density. When carefully prescribed and monitored by a healthcare provider, hormone replacement therapy can significantly improve quality of life for individuals experiencing hormone deficiencies or age-related hormonal changes. Some individuals also explore supportive wellness therapies such as NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) injections, which are thought to help support cellular energy production and overall vitality, though patients should consult a qualified healthcare provider to determine if this option is appropriate for them.

How Does Hormonal Balance Testing Work?

Consultation: The first step to determining if your hormone levels are imbalanced is to schedule a time to talk with a professional about your symptoms. From there, you can schedule a time to be tested.

Testing: Hormone levels can be tested by getting blood, urine, or saliva samples. However, the most common ways to collect samples for hormonal balance testing are through urine and blood. In some cases, additional hormonal balance testing may be done at a local hospital.

Lab Evaluation & Diagnosis: After blood and urine are collected, the samples are sent to a lab to be evaluated. When the results are in, they will be sent back to our staff at Suburban Women’s Health Care, PC where we will discuss the results with you. We will look at your symptoms and your hormone levels compared to our charts to determine a diagnosis.
